OUR STORY

When a loved one dies, we tend to think about their legacy, about the meaning of their lives. When we lost our Dad, Alfredo Gutierrez on January 29, 2021 due to COVID-19, it was something that my family simply could not overcome and continue to try and comprehend. It was a time to reflect upon his life and all the lives he touched. We wanted to give back to people in our community in his honor, who have also suffered the same fate we have due to COVID-19 through Fashion. We realized that there was no other Latino brand out there that supported these values of Life and what we are currently facing.

Family legacy is not just about what I've created, but about the story that I'm a part of and share. In all reality, we are always part of a bigger narrative. Our story is never just about ourselves. Our challenge is to see the larger narrative, recognizing how others have shaped us and how we impact others.
​
For us, our dad was the root of everything, including that drive and inspiration for starting this business. He came from Mexico when he was in his teens and after meeting our mother, falling in love, and having 7 children, he had a vision for his family and was determined to do whatever it took to make it happen. He opened his first bar in his 20’s then a lunch truck and a restaurant. He proved time and time again to be a “risk taker”. He inspired the whole family to always keep trying something new and moving forward. We all have taken that spirit with us in the "always keep moving forward" attitude towards life. Dad's never give up, independent attitude has always stayed with us. It is this independence that has inspired the start of this business in his honor. His legacy will live on through these designs made for the free-spirited people who live in the moment and like to make bold statements. What Dad gave to us was not only a tireless work ethic, but a genuine desire to serve our community in which we live.

OUR MISSION

Alfredo Gutierrez x Mariela, is a small brand based in Victorville, CA that gives back to families that have suffered due to COVID-19. It is a brand with a passion for sharing the love for our father and making sure those lost due to COVID-19 are never forgotten. We want to Preserve our rich Latino history and recognizing our accomplishments that contribute to the betterment of humanity.

When his life ended abruptly Alfredo Gutierrez knew that he was leaving his children a combination legacy of the way he lived, the impact he had on the world and how he always gave without expecting anything in return.
​
For this, we want to continue to honor Don Alfredo Gutierrez, a great man, an amazing father, incredible grandfather, a remarkable human being, a visionary entrepreneur, and an inspiration to all.
